Whether it be the Audi R10 or soon the 908 HDi FAP too – in order to combine optimal high pressure with maximum injection accuracy, the 12-cylinder dieselpowered racing cars at Le Mans are equipped with a special Bosch Common Rail System with pressures well in excess of 1600 bar. The extraordinary level of precision control achieved here is the result of the capability of the Piezo injectors to react extremely quickly to voltage influence.

High End: Bosch Engine Management
In the 2007 season, two Peugeot 908 HDi FAPs with 12-cylinder 5.5-litre engines will be lining up for the start of the Le Mans 24-hour race (16th - 17th June 2007) and the Le Mans long distance series (LMS). The power output is around 515 kW (700 hp) with 1,200 Nm maximum torque. Bosch Motorsport has tailored the latest technology to the cars’ engine management systems for achieving precise control of every injection process.

Star drivers from Formula 1
Well-known personalities from the world of motorsport will heighten the interest as Peugeot announces its return to the international racing scene. The most famous driver at the prestigious 24-hour race at Le Mans is the former Formula 1 World Champion Jaques Villeneuve. The Peugeot 908 HDi FAP will be piloted for the complete LMS by France’s Nicolas Minassian and Stéphane Sarrazin, Pedro Lamy from Portugal and Marc Gené from Spain.
